Fortnite's Winterfest celebration comes to a close on January 7 wrapping up a month filled with fun and festivities.
This marks the lead-up to the eagerly awaited major update in Chapter 6 Season 1: version 33.20. Epic is gearing up to unveil the seasons most significant collaboration yet featuring an epic showdown between Godzilla and King Kong which was hinted at in the Hunters season trailer.
But that is not all—players can also look forward to a host of new content including a virtual anime pop star.

Fortnite update 33.20 downtime details
Fortnite is 33.20 update is scheduled to be released on January 14 2024. Epic has not yet confirmed the start time but the downtime is expected to begin at 4 AM PT / 7 AM ET / 12 PM GMT.
As with previous updates Epic Games will announce the downtime schedule in advance via their official Fortnite Status account on X.
Matchmaking will typically be disabled shortly before the maintenance period begins but players will still be able to download the update as they wait for the servers to come back online.
While the exact length of downtime remains uncertain, it is expected to last a few hours.

The upcoming 33.20 content update is rumored to focus on a collaboration with the Monsterverse. Epic has kept most details a secret but we do know that Godzilla makes an appearance in this season trailer and Kong is referenced in the copyright section.
Additionally the Godzilla Evolved skin is teased as a locked reward in the Battle Pass.
Many believe that this update will feature a live in-game event likely showcasing a boss battle between Godzilla and King Kong inspired by the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong.
After the event players can expect both legendary creatures to show up as NPC bosses on the Chapter 6 Season 1 island where they can be hunted for exclusive loot rewards.
